Town Clerk, Blackstone

SALARY: DOQ/DOE (+) benefits. Appointed by town council; reports directly to town council. Acts as a liaison between the town and citizens; promotes a public service attitude so that citizens are treated courteously. Duties: Ensures that complaints are handled in an expeditious and courteous manner and resolved impartially; documents proceedings of town council meetings; disseminates and maintains official town documents approved by town council for permanent record. Handles all zoning issues, including issuing permits, scheduling Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings and taking minutes of those meetings; maintains the schedule of appointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission; prepares routine correspondence for town manager; keeps town manager's calendar. Organizes and prepares monthly council packets; attends all staff, committee and council meetings; handles confidential documents and information; issues 911 addresses; notifies public of all regular, continued and special called council meetings, as well as committee meetings. Keeps town code up to date through correspondence with Municipal Code Corporation; uploads agendas and minutes to town website; files Statements of Economic Interest and Real Estate Disclosure Forms for town council, planning commission and board of zoning appeals. Handles Freedom of Information Act requests; performs other duties as assigned. Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) preferred.
